In Praise of ... Muck Boots

WCB - The Wetland Muck Boot

While the Leica cameras and Billingham bags that I have reviewed in separate articles are definitely high ticket items, I can wholeheartedly recommend a product that sells for less than one hundred dollars - the Muck Boot. Said footware will keep your feet dry and comfortable as well as provide good support. The only downside is that the rubber construction means that the boots don't "breathe" and one's feet are likely to perspire. A good pair of socks (see my article on Filson socks) will wick away the moisture and help keep you going.

The Wetlands model that I use has a neoprene upper that can be rolled down so that the legs of one's trousers may be tucked in before the upper is rolled back up to the knee. This keeps the muck of one's choice on the boot where it can be easily removed with a garden hose and definitely trumps the indelicate task of removing muck from one's trousers.

Muck Boots are lightweight, comfortable, supportive and long lasting - a treat for the feet, as it were.
